Balanced Objects

Mission

Our main objectives are:

  • to conduct excellent and innovative research, focusing primarily on the effect of microbiota on health and diseases

  • to facilitate the joining together of scientific data from the member centers

  • to work in close cooperation with other research institutions and professional associations on an international level.

More than 100 trillion symbiotic microorganisms live on and within human beings and play an important role in human health and disease. The human microbiota, especially the gut microbiota, has even been considered to be an “essential organ” , carrying approximately 150 times more genes than are found in the entire human genome.
